The city edit Issue 01
The Newtownards Pilates Edit
Newtownards now has two genuinely different reformer addresses: SWEAT! runs a polished, energetic programme at Quarry Heights, while Studio36 teaches small groups and private apparatus work from a country studio looking towards Scrabo and Strangford Lough.
The long read
Pilates in Newtownards, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
SWEAT! teaches from 140 Quarry Heights, a short drive from the centre of Newtownards. Reformer is the anchor, with mat Pilates and hot yoga broadening the timetable for clients who want one movement membership rather than several disconnected venues.
Studio36 sits on Holywood Road in a glazed, fully accessible room overlooking the lough. Eight reformers are joined by a Cadillac, reformer tower, chair and ladder barrel; group classes normally stay at six or seven, cost £20 and are usually sold in ten-class blocks.
The route in differs by studio. SWEAT! exposes a live Glofox timetable and welcomes a broad progression of movers. Studio36 asks for mat or reformer experience, a beginner workshop or a private introduction before joining an ongoing group, making its slower, hands-on model especially clear.
Both are drive-to bookings, but the wider guide belongs to the Ards landscape. Haptik handles coffee and brunch in town, Scrabo Tower gives the immediate high viewpoint, and Mount Stewart turns a class into a slower garden-and-lough day on the road towards Greyabbey.
