The city edit Issue 01
The St Ives Pilates Edit
St Ives has two genuine reformer choices rather than a padded regional list: Riverside brings a polished boutique room to the historic centre, while The Room runs an independent timetable from the town's dance-school quarter.
The long read
Pilates in St Ives, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
Riverside Reformer is the most central option, occupying 23 Bridge Street close to the Great Ouse. It uses Merrithew equipment, publishes a £20 drop-in and offers two first classes for £25, making it the easiest studio to combine with the market square, independent shops and a riverside walk.
The Room is a different proposition. Based at the Vicky Grant School of Dance on Edison Road, it runs term-based and holiday timetables through TeamUp, with private groups and one-to-one sessions available by arrangement. It is a practical local studio rather than a high-street drop-in.
Geography should settle most choices. Riverside works for a class folded into the centre; The Room suits the northern business-estate side of town and clients who value a recurring community timetable. Neither needs to be presented as a substitute for the other.
The two studios also show why a small-town guide can still be useful. Equipment, booking rhythm and first-timer access are materially different, and those details matter more than an inflated list of distant Cambridge providers.
