New York City Fort Greene
Pilates in Fort Greene.
Fort Greene combines structured reformer progression with deeply personal, body-intelligent and gender-affirming one-to-one practices.
The neighbourhood note
Use the route below to make the class part of the day, rather than the whole of it.
Before and after class
Decide whether your work belongs in a small group, a standing private appointment or an explicitly affirming room.
Fort Pilates runs eight-person reformer groups on Fulton Street and four-person springboard classes plus private, duet and Gyrotonic sessions on DeKalb Avenue. Beginners have a foundations class; experienced clients can progress to advanced choreography or jumpboard. Finetune Pilates Studio is the counterpoint, working exclusively one-to-one through standing appointments and matching each client with an instructor whose movement language fits their body and goals.
Queer Body Pilates / Sofia Engelman makes gender affirmation, hypermobility, pain management and pre- or post-surgical support explicit, using contemporary Pilates, embodied kinesiology and consensual touch in individual sessions. Babe Skwod Studio, Jesse Singer Pilates and a second Fort Pilates record complete a private-heavy range. Fort Greene's strength is not sheer volume; it is the ability to choose between a legible group pathway and highly specific interpersonal care.
