The city edit Issue 01
The Saltash Pilates Edit
Saltash has one verified reformer studio, but it is substantial enough to deserve its own guide: Bottoms Up pairs eight beds with ladder barrel and Wunda chair work inside Motion Gym, then connects to Ember's mat, yoga and barre programme through a shared wellness membership.
The long read
Pilates in Saltash, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.
Bottoms Up is the town's reformer anchor. Lorraine Underwood's team teaches forty-five-minute Level 1, Level 2, all-levels and technique sessions on eight machines, with private work extending onto a ladder barrel and four Wunda chairs. The studio sits inside Motion Gym on Forge Lane with free parking and a live Gymcatch schedule.
Pricing is unusually legible for a small independent room. A group class costs £16; three cost £45; rolling memberships are £55 for four sessions or £90 for eight. Private tuition begins at £48, while a £95 joint membership adds unlimited reformer to Ember's mat Pilates, yoga and barre classes in the neighbouring studio.
Ember is part of the same ritual, not a second reformer listing. Use it for warm sculpt, power Pilates, yoga or barre around a Bottoms Up booking, then leave the business park for Fore Street's cafés and independent shops. The distinction keeps the directory accurate without losing the broader wellness context that makes Saltash useful.
Finish at the Waterside beneath the Royal Albert and Tamar bridges, or take the level bike-and-foot path across the river for the long view back into Cornwall. Plymouth is close, but Saltash no longer needs to borrow its identity: the reformer studio, local high street and Tamar landscape make a complete destination of their own.
